“on my own”
‘The Cabinet of dr. mabuse produced by Hearding Cats Collective’
In November of 2010. The filmmaker Eric Wilkinson filmed 46 minutes of one of my electronium performances. I was honored that he decided to make an experimental film based on this footage. The electroniums I used in this performance are: Special Ed, il Viaggio di Marconi , The Exalted Birds, The K-Pod , & Pandora’s Box. I also used The S.N.O. rack , The Iugulum Pistricis (processing Pandora’s box) , and my deeply modified Roland SH-101 (controlled by a just-completed prototype of the Double-Ribbon controller)
‘See What You Hear produced by Hearding Cats Collective’
January 28 of 2022 . I deployed the largest array of instruments that I ever risked transporting at The St. Louis Central Library Theater in a a live improvised duet with video artist Kevin Harris. The synthesizers were DIY or deeply-modfied modulars, including : The S.N.O. rack , The Red menace, Ringo, The 70’s, The Fool’s Paradise, and one of my Arp 2600’s with the Non-Sequitur embedded.
‘National Electronics Museum Electronicafest Performance ‘
The National Electronics Museum in Baltimore Maryland presents an annual festival of electronic music . I was invited to headline their 14th festival (titled ‘Transitions‘) produced on November 4 2023. This festival routinely presents a formidable roster of talent and I was honored to be asked to participate. So I transported a large rig of instruments , entailing a 9-hour setup with the hope that my efforts would match the honor of the invitation. My set was well received. The muse did not desert me that evening so I’m glad there was a recording. The logistics of an equipment-saturated multi-artist festival like this are daunting. It is a credit to the festival staff that it all proceeded like clockwork. thanks to: Fritz Shantz, producer, Dave Vosh, musical director, Allen Myers, audio director, Paul Artola , lighting director, Jeff Brown , recordist, Kevin Harris, video producer, and Foveal Media.
